A fumigated pallet is a pallet with an IPPC certificate, which is awarded by the International Plant Protection Convention. This means that they have been fumigated, and are also known as phytosanitary pallets. But what does the fumigation process involve? It may look like this: wooden pallets are subjected to mechanical processing, which eliminates the remains of tree bark. After such fumigation, the pallets receive the DB marking. In turn, fumigated pallets marked MB indicate that methyl bromide gassing, i.e. disinfection, was used for the wooden packaging. The third method of fumigation is heat treatment, i.e. thermal treatment. In this case, the processing of wooden packaging looks like this: it is dried at a high temperature for an appropriate time. Pallets subjected to heat treatment in this way are marked with the HT symbol. Of course, pallets made of other materials, such as cardboard pallets, are not subject to fumigation.
